Family Mission & Values
Family Mission
To advance the glory of God by following his design for our family, building up our local body of believers, and engaging with the world as representatives of Jesus.
Family Values
These are the values that hold our family together and point us outward.
1. God above all
Everything we do flows from who He is — not as obligation, but as orientation.
- We will rally around the worship of God.
- We will live slowly enough to think deeply about God.
- Our lips will bear the fruit of praise to God in everything.
2. Guard the gate
Our eyes, mouths, and hearts are not neutral and we will guard them together.
- We will not set before our eyes anything that is worthless (Psalm 101:3).
- The mouths of fools utter nonsense. We will speak what is timely, builds up, and gives grace to those who hear.
- We will guard our hearts with the word of God, that we might not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11).
3. Work and live with all our might
We will not live half-heartedly, but with all our might — while we do live (Ecclesiastes 9:10).
- We will cultivate what God gives us, managing it with excellence, for effective service to God (1 Peter 4:10).
- We will create art to reflect God's beauty, and engage in work to reflect His (and our) dominion.
- We will enjoy the gifts God gives us, with thankfulness in our hearts to Him, and we will suffer well, holding to His promises and confessing His glory, worth, and authority.
4. Serve with open hands
The local church is our primary channel for serving God's people, and our home extends that service into the world.
- We will not refuse opportunities to serve simply for being fearful of it.
- We will be hospitable to all, so we may teach people something deeper about the love of God through our own love.
- We will seek to use whatever intellectual, physical, spiritual, or financial wealth as gospel patrons — sponsoring the advancement of God's Kingdom.
5. People are the treasure
No accomplishment, system, or ambition is worth the cost of neglecting the people in our lives.
- We measure the richness of our lives not by what we accomplish, but by the depth of our love shared between the people around us.
- We protect time for the people closest to us — our marriage, our children, our family, and our friends — treating these bonds as gifts worth cultivating with a return that is eternal.
- Jesus is the ultimate treasure, and we will aim to treat Him as such.
